Duncan Mighty Arrested for Alleged Fraud

The Imo State Police Command on Saturday said it had arrested popular singer , Duncan Mighty, over alleged N 11 m fraud.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state , Orlando Ikeokwu , said that the artist was arrested following a petition by an upcoming artist, M 2 .

The police spokesperson said , “On December 14 , operatives of the command arrested popular music artist, Duncan Mighty, on an allegation of fraud.

“This followed a petition written by an upcoming rap artist , M 2 , who claimed that the Imo State government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha, through the office of the SA on Entertainment , entered into a deal with Duncan Mighty to manage , promote , arrange Collaboration with other top artists and sign M 2 under Young Wealth record label owned by Duncan Mighty.

“As a result , an agreement was reached and a fee of N 11 , 000 ,000 was paid to him . However , since collecting the payment he refused to fulfill his own part of the deal.

“Sequel to the petition , the artist was arrested , and he affirmed having such agreement and collecting the fund , but said he can only refund the money if the contract is terminated, he was then released on bail on self -recognition .

“Consequently , a letter was received by the representative of the former Governor , terminating the contract to enable him to refund the money, and since then he absconded , and all efforts made to reach him proved abortive .

“In view of the above , a warrant of arrest was issued that led to his arrest at the early hours of this morning . ”

Kogi State Gubernatorial candidates under Social Democratic Party (SDP), Natasha ’s H. Akpoti defeat Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the appeal court. Recall that Natasha’s was disqualified by INEC to contest for Kogi gubernatorial election that was held on the 16th of November 2019, over what INEC described as age disqualification. According to INEC, the vice gubernatorial candidate to Natasha’s did not meet the age requirements by the constitution. Gunmen attack Kogi community, kill 19, burn houses

By   Emmanuel Francis Gunmen have killed no fewer than 19 people in Tawari community in the Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State, burning buildings, including the palace of the king of the community. The Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, Mr. Williams Anya, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Friday. He said that a police assessment team had visited the community and that many buildings, including places of worship, had been burnt. Tawari community is a few kilometres off Gegu town along the Lokoja-Abuja highway. A resident of Tawari community, Mrs. Comfort Solomon, who survived the attack, told NAN that the gunmen, numbering about 100 invaded the community late on Thursday. The Supreme Court of Nigeria in a five man panel headed by Justice Olubolade Joe in a unanimous judgement finally put to rest as it Barred state governors from having the power to sack elected local government chairmen and councilors henchforth. Other areas of the ruling that took place on 11th Dec 2019 includes: 1.
