Senator Rochas Okorocha says his record as governor of Imo remains unmatched in the history of the state. “I built six Universities, four Polytechnics, two Colleges of Education, who has beaten this record in the history of that State,” the lawmaker who was a guest on Channels Television’s Newsnight said. The former governor further stated that he built one of the best Government Houses in the country. Kogi: Gunmen Shoot Judge, Kidnap Driver

A Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Bala Muhammed was on Sunday evening shot by some armed robbers along Okene-Lokoja road while his driver was also kidnapped. It was reliably gathered on Monday that Khadi Muhammed was on his way to Okene for Ajanah Basketball championship competition when he was attacked by the armed men. According to an eye witness account, the Khadi was attacked at about 4pm before Itakpe by the fully armed men when they stopped his car and then shot him in the arm. The sources further disclosed that after shooting him, they robbed him of his personal effects, and later kidnapped his driver and escaped into the bush However, other motorists travelling along the highway had to take cover to avoid being robbed or kinapped by the armed robbers. How Police, Soldiers Foiled Bank Robbery in Abuja

An attempt to raid an old generation bank in Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja by dare-devil robbers in alleged connivance with some of the bank’s staff and security men was foiled by policemen and soldiers from the Guards Brigade. One of the armed robbers was killed during a gun duel with security operatives, while four others were arrested after they were smoked out of the banking hall with tear gas. Also held by the police from Mpape Division for questioning were some staff and the bank’s security men, who were suspected to have aided the bandits’ entrance into the banking hall. It was curious how they gained access into the bank on a Saturday when the bank was closed without any resistance or firing a shot. Sacrilege : 300 Ghost Workers Uncovered in Kogi State

Following the controversy over ghost workers, the organised labour in Kogi, Friday, called on the state Head of Service (HoS), Mrs Deborah Ogunmola to make public the said 300 ghost workers allegedly planted by senior civil servants in the state. In a statement by the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Onuh Edoka and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Ranti Ojo, they described the allegation as unfortunate given the fact that the state government had conducted the staff verification exercise that lasted for over three years. The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State council, has commiserated with the Gov. Yahaya Bello over the death of his elder sister, Hajia Rabiat Bello. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hajia Bellow died on Monday night during a protracted illness at the age of 59. A statement issued by the state NUJ Chairman, Mr Adeiza Jimoh, and the Secretary, Ademu Seidu, described the death of the governor’s sister as a huge loss to her immediate community and the entire Ebiraland. Federal Government has  ordered the release of former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki and convener of online #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore. The  Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami made this public in a statement on Tuesday. Malami said the decision to release them was in compliance with the bail granted the two by the court. “The two defendants are enjoined to observe the terms of their bail and refrain from engaging in any act that is inimical to public peace and national security as well as their ongoing trial which will run its course in accordance with the laws of the land,” Malami said. Community Health Care: Group Offers Free Medical Services To 300 Persons In Kogi

No fewer than 300 persons including aged men, women and children on Monday benefited from a free healthcare initiative, offered by an NGO, the Coalition of Ibaji Youths (COIY),  in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State. Speaking at the one of the venue, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of COIY, Mr. Tony Edike, said the healthcare initiative was part of the organisation’s annual programme to extend love to the less privilege people during Christmas season. Edike explained that the organization, which was collaborating with other groups and the government at all levels to facilitate development of the area and improve the wellbeing of the people. According to him, the medical outreach was conducted at Ibaji local government headquarters, Onyedega and Odogwu communities, while drugs worth thousands of naira were donated to Ejule Ojebe Health Centre. A clergyman, Jonathan Olaoye, has described the throwing of firecrackers by youths during Christmas festival as mere fun rather than being scriptural. Olaoye of the Christ Apostolic Church, Ijomimo Oluwa, Isolo in Lagos told the  News Agency of Nigeria  on Saturday that firecracker “is just for fun’’. According to him, it does not have anything to do with the birth of Jesus Christ. The Police Command in Kogi State has banned the use of fireworks across the state during the festive season. The Kogi State police command in a statement through his spokesperson, William Aya, on Friday, charged parents and guardians to restrain their children and wards from using fireworks, he added that the command’s position against knockouts is a strategy to encourage security in the State. The Jigawa States Government : To Construct 95 Mosques, Nigerians Reacts

They pointed out that Jigawa state has over 800,000 out-of-school children, yet, rather than build schools, the government is making plans to build mosques. Some asked how the new mosques will empower the people or create employment. Some suggested that factories or schools should be built instead.
